Anyone Narrowed Their Rear End?? Pics??

Has anyone narrowed the rear end on their 5th Gen? Post some pics please, and what did it end up costing you to do so?

I don't think that is even possible with an IRS, is it?!?!?! I've never heard of anyone doing that. Maybe I'm just dumb or something?!!?!?

it is possible but takes alot of fab work you would have to use the hendrick 9in rear custom axles and custom made control arms relocate the rear struts, eh you are better back halfing it lol

so that way, you could mini-tub your car and run a retardedly wide tire....

either way, i dont think anyone has..... a few people have put widebody kits on their cars and put 405 width tires on them, and i know janeatty racing runs a 28x14.5x16 on a few of their cars with no mod work (other than converting to v6 brakes to make a 16" wheel fit).

How big of a size tire did you want to run? and as mentioned before... it will require a lot of fab work......

wide body kit = more weight than factory

narrowing rear end = less weight than factory

it's a racing thing, not a looks thing.

They do make a custom axle swap to run larger wheels and tires but I think it's for looks not for heavy foots!!!!!! Might want to check with nineball or indpwer to learn more but don't be afaid to contact Ted at Jannetty Racing or Lingenfelter to see what there running on the 10sec. and less Camaros!!!
What kind of power are you looking at??????

Racing thing...Guys are running 7's in the 1/4 on 10" tires. Beyond that I can hook 800+rwhp on the street on 315 M/T DR's, given the right conditions. How much do you really need?

those guys in the 275 and 10" tire class are also pedaling the crap outta the hole with their cars, to run 7's.

and like i said before.... people are running 14.5 wide tires just fine

but the original poster asked it it can be narrowed and how much it was...... for all we know he has some 2000 rwhp 2010 camaro...... believe it or not, there are lots of people with "more money than brains"

It would actually be cheaper to install a narrowed solid axle than it would be to narrow the IRS. With a 4 link IRS suspension, thats 4 separate links that need altered along with the swaybar and CV axles. If you want a wider tire than what already fits in the wheelwell (we already run 315's w/o any mods) there is plenty of frame rail to narrow that will allow a wider wheel with a different backspace. This would get you the width without having to change all of the suspension components. I can't find the post but someone on Camaro 5 has already done this....

It was really just a question for my curiosity, nothing I would probably do. I do however like the look on old pro street cars like my dad's 70' Chevelle SS.
I will probably eventually put wider than the 20x9 Rear that is on my Camaro, maybe get the widened factory wheels.
