To muffler delete or not to delete
What's the benefit from getting an Axle-back exhaust as opposed to a muffler delete?
Looking at the SLP Loudmouth Exhaust... Wondering if I should just cut the mufflers off and use the 200+ I'd save on something else.... Any help?

If you are doing the Loudmouth I, it will be a similar sound. If you were going to use the Loudmouth II....the delete will not sound the same. The Loudmouth II is a deeper sound.

ZZ looking at the loudmouth I...
Im a bit of a newbie when it comes to stuff like this but from the pictures of the Loudmouth it looks just like a muffler delete... What am I paying close to $500 for? are they special tubes? Better off having them cut the mufflers out and go with straight tubes to 4" tips no?

I personally never like to cut and weld because I always like to retain the stock parts in case I need to put it back to stock. I guess if you don't care about cutting then I would say just go to a local shop and have them cut and weld, that would be the easiest and cheapest way.

Cutting out the Factory Mufflers and replacing with straight pipe may give you a better sound, but like said above, the highway drone may give you a freakin' headache.

from the two other straight pipe threads, I was under the assumption that there was no highway drone. the rpms are so low that the guys couldn't hear a difference in stock and straight pipe on the highway. Have you heard different? or are you just guessing?

On the highway...I can barely hear the difference in Long Tubes...at Low RPMs the sound insulation in this car works very well (too wlll for me).

Well guys I have tried to become some what of a expert in this field. I ran a base line dyno run of 421 hp and replaced my mufflers with polished stainless and re ran on the same dyno no other changes. Dyno now reads 438.6 hp. That shows the factory mufflers are way to restrictive for this engine. After speaking with some engineers at GM they stated these mufflers were indeed very restrictive by design. I will attach the Final dyno sheet as well. There is no drone on the interstate. Only thing I have noticed is a mild pop on deaccelaration which I love.

The pop would be greatly reduced ro even eliminated with proper tuning! Same thing happens with the Long Tubes!
