Steering column lower cover (I think)

I would like to replace the cover that goes around the ignition switch (the large plastic piece) and I guess wraps under. It seems that the original owner of my car frequently attempted to harshly stab the key into the ignition regardless of the trajectory. The chrome/polished area of the switch itself is also a mess, but I can think about covering that with a piece of vinyl or something, but the pock mark gouges in the plastic is just ugly.

Secondly, someone enlighten me on the removal procedure. I really want to think that it is a $10 part and a 10min. job. Everyone needs wishful thinking.

Part number?

4 7mm bolts under the column. It splits into 2 pieces and comes right off. As for the part number, I have no idea. But the part is around $10 for the one half. Just call Maureen M at Rodgers Chevrolet and she will send it to you with free shipping. Maureen is the best, trust me I have purchased a lot of parts from her and she hasn't failed me yet.

thanks Badman. I'll root around under there and see if I can drop it first. Maybe a part number in there stamped on it. I appreciate the info.
