My car is dumb.

Every day when it is sunny and 38 degrees it says "icy conditions".

Nope, no ice anywhere to be found. sorry.

Better safe than sorry.

Maybe you pissed your wife off and the car is letting you know it?

I installed a gentex compass/temp mirror in my '95 Impala SS and it does the same thing. Dunno.

It's just a reminder that it's possible to have some ice, especially with wind chill
at these temperatures.

it's because around that temp the ground can be colder then the air temp. I use to live in iceland and we had signs that gave ground temp and air temp. and a lot of times the after the sun cam up the ground was still at or below freezing when the temp reached 40.

Im suprised nobody pointed out the obvious..... "Icy conditions" is not the same as "Ice present"

As far as I know the Camaro does not have a barometer and since it cannot tell the ambient air pressure it cannot accurately tell you the freezing point of water at your current air pressure, so it will give a warning with some margin for error.

It can not tell if it is sunny or not, nor can it tell if you are driving on a raised road or bridge where s slight wind chill can produce icy conditions. Sure you have seen the signs that say bridges freeze before roadways.
