Hole in AC Condenser...

So my AC stopped being cold about a month after I bought my 2ss/rs. I took it into my dealer to get it checked out, at first they couldnt figure out what the problem was. They told me I was completely out of freon, but couldn't find the leak.

So my car sat at the dealership, and about 8 hours later, they call me to come pick her up. It turns out I had a rock go through my AC condenser, and this was not covered under my warranty because it looked like user abuse not manufacturer defect.

And apparently now they dont even have the part. So i gotta wait like over a week to get a new condenser...

Has anyone else ever had this issue? and is it really under warranty??

Sounds like they are feeding you a heaping pile of ! They were thinking about it for 8 hours alright. Thinking about what kind of excuse you'll fall for so they are bereft of responsibility and cost. Don't let them get away with it!

Hi Boro62,

If you have a zero deductable on comp. your insurance should cover it no problem --- I had the same thing happen to me in my 08 Si.

I feel for your problem ,but it's 18deg out right now where I'm at and I wish I was fighting an A/C problem. I would make them show you the hole.

Holes caused by road debris are not covered under warrenty, but are covered under insurance. Be carefull, however, as some insurance companies don't count it as comprehensive. Their attitude is that it is a collision.

It's all in how the dealer writes it up, it can be done. If the dealers take care of there customers and products, they will come back to buy more cars. Customer Service is just a good way to deal with people.

I have had dealers pick up "warranty work" for me. And you know what, that keeps the customers coming back.

It happens, I replace condensers in my shop every once in a while because of road debris. The condenser is next in line behind the grille. So anything that misses the grille hits the A/C condenser. A small sharp rock hitting one of the condenser tubes at speed is all it takes. I I don't think this is BS, in life if it can happen it will happen to someone.

If this is from debris this isn't "warranty work" and the dealer won't get paid. And if not getting paid keeps the customers wanting free work coming back I doubt they want that customer, I know I don't.
