Is my Aux cord the center of my problems? - Camaro5 Chevy Camaro Forum / Camaro ZL1, SS and V6 Forums

My problem is static through my speakers.. but only when I listen to music off of my iPhone? So.. it's either go to be the aux cord, or the quality of the music I have, right?

I bought a $10-$20 aux cord awhile back from best buy to listen to music off my iPhone . I normally keep my iPhone in the cup holder and have the center console close on the aux cord. After two years, maybe that has gotten to it?

Can anyone recommend a good aux cord?

Check out www.monoprice.com. Their cables are good quality at a great price. I order almost all my cables from them.

If you are going thru the aux port and getting static/noise, a noise filter will typically remedy it. It could also be the cable if you weren't previously experiencing this. You'll find a link to the filter I was referring to.

I have a apple cord and it does it from time to time ,i pull it out then install it again ,it works for a while before it happens again

Your best off to use the iPhone through USB. In most cases the head unit will have a better A/D converter than a smart phone. (Well, maybe not with the GM stock head unit.)

I've tried various combination of cable and filters using AUX input with both the iPhone and iPad. Using a filter helped with the noise but the frequency response suffered. My theory is that the noise is generated from a ground loop issue rather than a problem with the mobile device or head unit.

Try using using USB rather than an analog input. This way the A/D conversion takes place in the head unit, not the in the mobile device. You can also try bootooth (that's not a typo) but the bandwidth stinks and it's unreliable for the most part.

Every once in a while I have to replace my usb cord because of static. Especially the cheap apple ones.
