Unread threads
How come threads that I have not read change to read if I turn off the computer or it goes to hibernate or anything ... do I have something set wrong? It would be a LOT better if it did not do this.

anyone? How do I get unread threads to stay unread so that I know I have not looked there yet? Other forums do this, so I know it is possible.

so I guess this is not doable ... I wonder how many threads have become 'read' in between my visits and I have never opened them? probably 1000s

Okay, I believe it is possible, but I want you to try something first. (I have no idea if this will work.) At the top of this page is a button called "User CP", go to that and on the left hand side you will select "Edit Options".
Once you are there, near the bottom of the page you will find "Default Thread Age Cutoff". Make your selection, THEN CLICK "SAVE" AT THE BOTTOM! Give it a few days and see what happens. If that doesn't work, I think Admin can change a setting for you. Absolutely none of this is 100%. I'm just guessing here. |

Didn't work. Just displays fewer threads in a forum

Yeah, I tried it too. Massive
I do not believe there is a way to change this other than asking admin. I'll keep investigating. |

I don't think it's a Camaro5 issue. All other forums that I visit that use vBulletin does the same thing.

If there were an easy fix, I'm sure MarkLS2 would have done it by now.

Pretty much if you visit the forum, even if you don't click on any threads, the visit is registered by vBulletin and marks everything as read until the next time you visit the forum. Unfortunately I don't think there's any kind of individual setting or site-wide setting that can be changed to alter this behavior.

Once again ... another forum I watch is also vbulletin and it does not reset, so it should be doable ... not sure why that site can do it and this one can't ... It is so terribly inefficient to just randomly pick threads of the ones that show as read when I never read them ... there are so many threads on this site that there is no way to click all the unread threads and read them every visit .... honestly it annoys me every time I visit
