instruments
Tachometer, Speedometer, Gas Gage, Temprature Gage, 4 Gage cluster. question is when i start the Camaro up all the gages go over to there maximum reading the over to normal can anyone enlighten me why this happens?

That is NORMAL.....they are all linked to the computer......all of GM's cars do that......at least all that are electronically controled

I'm guessing a self test of some kind. Part of the start up routine with the electronics in the car.

The primary reason for all the guages moving and lights turning on when you turn the key is to allow YOU to visually check that all the indicators are functional.
Plus it just looks cool too.

All of your idiot lights should also come on at this time. It's called a "bulb check" that way you can see when one of your lights is out or guages is not functioning

It's the computers way of ensuring that the signal it sends to the instruments is received. The computer sends a signal to go full deflection and then monitors the instraments to ensure they are doing what they are being told to do.

yep if they don't make it all the way to full deflection your computer throws a code to let you know it needs to be fixed

It's normal, It is like an All systems go check.. even my 2007 HHR does that..
