It is not a cheep job to do. Tow get the car redone in the color i am getting will cost me around $5K, for a basic job. That is taking all body panels off stripping the whole car down and repainting it. To get the job done i want will cost me around $10K. That is because if i am going to get it done then i will get it done right the first time, and Tom is who will get my business in this case. Some of you may know him as the LittleWiesel.

I just think it's backwards to make 2 colors exclusive to the V6.
It would make more sense to make colors exclusive to the SS, you know, the baddest of the bad kinda deal. I could be wrong, but I dont think you can order Cyber Grey on any model Corvette but the ZR1. Makes more sense than keeping it exclusive to the base corvette, and not the ZR1... I'm getting Cyber Grey so maybe I'm discussing a moot point, but if Imperial Blue were specific to only the SS (rather than the current predicament), I'd pull the trigger on that instead...

I am going to try to explain my thoughts on this subject.
I know some of you are pissed and are upset, I started this thread because I noticed it and I was shocked. But now after thinking about it for a while, I have come to some conclusions about both the Blue color situation, and Red Jewel situation... Red Jewel is an extra $$$ paint option, to offer it on the base car is in a way, contradicting itself. Why would GM put an extra cost option on a car that most people want to buy because it is cheap...hence, the BASE MODEL. Personally, if I was looking for a base car, I wouldnt want to spend extra money on a paint job....so that is my reasoning there. As for the 2 blue colors...Blue's have never historically or modernly been a "performance color"...(I know some will argue with me on this... ) But it hasnt...I think the SS is more of a performance sports machine, where the V-6 models are more of an everyday car that people would be able to get more options/colors on. I know it may not make sense, but if you think about it logically, there is a reason for it, and GM does have a business case to make. So PERSONALLY I can totally understand why they did it. I just wanted to voice my thoughts...sorry to all the people who love blue and wanted an SS....as for me, its Cyber Gray or Victory Red |

GM, I want an Imperial Blue Metallic SS. I was thinking about black but awhile ago I settled on imp blue.
with many of you, I agree that it makes little sense to make some colours specific to the V6's. If there were specific to the SS it might make more sense. But that is not the case. This is the first time that I've ever been disappointed in the new Camaro. I'm now in with those who are upset that there is no HUD at launch, or the SS front end, or any number of details. I hope that, like the HUD, this will get resolved by the time I am ready to order. Is it a deal breaker? No. But a 30k+ starting price for the SS1 without imperial blue might be. That would be too much for a car in a colour that I don't want.

The only reasoning I can think of is that they really want to push to V6 cars...but do they seriously think they are going to push an enthusiast into a V6 when they really want real american muscle?!?!? I think not.

If any color isn't sporty, its white. It just screams "rental car" to me.
I can see offering only one blue on the SS. It isn't all that unusual to see some colors not offered on upper-level trims (not saying that makes any sense, because it doesn't) but to have two shades of one EXTREMELY popular color and not offer either of them on the SS apparently just because you don't feel like it is ridiculous. I agree with others who are saying that if they're going to drop this much money on a car, they can't compromise on color. Going for the SS is a stretch for me even a few years from now when I'll get it, and I simply won't drop that money if I have to settle for a color I don't want just because someone at GM arbitrarily decided that SS buyers shouldn't get blue. Unless GM decides to fix this mistake if they want to sell me an SS then they'll have to knock enough off the price to pay for a repaint.

I too wanted Imperial blue with white stripes and of course white interior. I have since settled for my second choice, Silver. This just kinda shows that GM does not read this "stuff" on here like it has been stated. However, I know Scott does...so I am not at all "dogging" him. There have been many people on here that stated they wanted one of the two blues on an SS......so why did this not happen?:(

Maybe they have a special edition in the works for a blue? Not necessarily a Z/28, but maybe something similar to a Shelby GT.
I don't think the guys at GM would do this unless they had a REALLY good reason. |

A. The car you want doesn't come in blue. It's not the end of the world.
B. Imperial Blue Metallic is _very_ dark. Even in direct sunlight, you have to really focus to tell it's not black. C. Aqua Blue Metallic is girly. Blue is right at the top of my list of favorite car colors, but after seeing the blues offered on the Camaro in the flesh on other GM cars, I'm not really all that disappointed they won't be available on the SS. Other manufacturers have much deeper, richer shades. The grass is always greener though, right? |
