Don't drop your guard when it's time to pick up your new ride

I did, and I missed some serious etchings in the hood of my 2013 SS that I picked up about a month ago.

I didn't notice them until some time after delivery, as you can only see them if the light is right and you are looking at the right angle.

Not that it's a big deal, but it would have been better if I had caught it right away and had them take care of it before delivery.

Now I find out the hood has to be wet sanded and buffed, according to their body shop guy.

This car was sitting for months at another dealership before I bought it, and obviously, that dealership allowed bird droppings to sit on the finish unchecked.

I wish I could take care of these stains myself, but I have zero experience beyond simple washing and waxing...

Yea my dealer screwed me good. The bumper was keyed and they wet sanded it. I noticed the repair after the delivery.

You got that new car tunnel vision when you went to pick it up. It happens to all of us.

The dealership we bought our car from attempted to repair the damages; I noticed all the damage under the car port with very little lighting. They had the car for a long time and I ended up having to go to another Stealership to have the damages repaired on my dime. I will not buy another car from HAMPTON CHEVROLET which is located on the east coast here in VA.

I usually buy foreign cars due to better quality; one example of such would be that the paint on the vehicle holds up much better in my opinion "Honda" and from what I can see of the Camaro I can't comprehend how easy the paint chips not just on mine but from what I have seen on other C5 vehicles...GM what's up with the paint?

On my Camaro my paint chips easily, but on my Tahoe, it never chipped. That thing is indestructable.

Hondas are notorious from the mid 2000's for having early clearcoat failure.

I never had a problem with such since I ensured to clean and wax faithfully, when I sold my Honda Ridgeline to a Doctor the truck still looked brand new; the expression on his face was truly amazing and priceless.

Quality took a back seat with GM when it came to the paint on the C5.

You can wash and wax the C5 faithfully but you will either need to do some serious paint correction or a complete repaint of the vehicle much sooner than later

Last time I went to the dealership I bought from to look at the '14s- the salesman showed me his new Camaros, all parked in a line.
He was all proud of them.

I hated to be the bearer of bad news, but most of them had door dings where the people had opened them up onto the Camaro next to it. The door snubbers weren't on em.
I pointed it out. He wasn't happy.

Some were beyond PDR repair.
