New Additions

Barton Pistol Grip Shifter with no engraving. I sent Barton an email regarding why no LS version. He mentioned he did not have any LS version available but did have a non-engraved version and changed his website to relect that option: http://www.bartonindustries.com/BUY-Knobs.html

Door Sill Decals from thecamarodecalstore (reggie@ivo1.com) the first LS version!

Waldorf meet Update

I didn't have a chance this week to personally go to the Mall office due to my work schedule but did send them an email requesting the space for our meet.

Once I receive a response I will post to this thread.

There was an article on the web a few months back showing a new Ford Mustang painted in colors from one of the fighter squadrons from the 8th Air Force. It was photographed next to a P-51 painted for the same squadron. I don't remember the squadron number, but they had yellow noses.

Not sure which squadron that was, the 357th had the red and yellow checkerboard pattern on the nose. Are you an 8th AF buff?

Response from the St. Charles Town Center

Kristine,

Thanks for your response. This is the area that I am looking at for the meet:

I can meet with you sometime on Thursday to discuss the space. However, since this meet is just a first time get together for some Camaro folks to get to know each other I concerned as to the cost to use any space. If it is reasonable I can either foot the bill myself or ask for donations although please keep in mind that anyone who attends the meet most likely will head into the mall food court to shop at some of your vendors.

Regards,
Dave

I would need to see the space you are speaking of. If it is Macy's track, we would not be able to hold the meet there. We do have other spaces on property than can be used. We do charge for the use of the space at the mall. I would be happy to meet with you at the mall to discuss this further. I could meet with you on Wednesday or Thursday this week.

Eff that Dave! Why the hell should we pay to park at a public mall? Don't you foot the bill for that either - that's just plain crazy. I don't know who else agrees/disagrees, but I think it's ludicrous (sp?) to pay. It's just a meet and greet - not like we are having a car show or something like that. Tell her to get lost. JMO

I have a lot of respect for those guys, especially in the early parts of the war when the loses were so high. One of my uncles was a mechanic in the 8th and volunteered to be a rear gunner on B-17s. He was feeling out done by his older brother who was in the First Special Service Forces, also known as the Devil's Brigade, a combined U.S. and Canadian unit recognized as one of the forerunners of the Green Berets. Luckily he started flying toward the end of the war and made it home. My father island hopped with MacArthur then ended up in the Air Force after the war. I was raised an Air Force brat.

that's a crock. We had a meet and greet about 3/4 of the way down from top level Kohls in August of last year. Had about 15 cars if I remember right and didn't pay anyone.

All, I get this worked out. I am curious as to how they want to handle this and will advise asap. Regarding starting another thread, I would prefer to just keep updating this one as necessary.

Didn't receive a response today so I'll be making a trip over there on Thursday for a face to face with the mall folks. If they get stupid I'll find somewhere else because I want this meet to happen!

Stay tuned!
