want to fabricate a stainless works exhuast system to dual mode
Yea guys, Looking for some input, anybody know if its possible to make a retro chambered stainless works exharst system into a dual mode by fabricating? Possibly purchase a gm dual mode butter flies and npp controll box from gm warehouse. Any other ideas appreciated. Love the retro chamber sound just would like to tone it down when needed. thanks

Is it possible? Sure. You couldn't just put the valves directly on the Retro Chambered though. You would have to get the Retro Chambered cat back and a set of NPP dual mode mufflers and install them on the rear of the cat back to get it to work.

I didn't think they sold just the valve. If you find a way to get it, let us all know!

This will cost you well over $2000 for parts alone!! I like where your head is at though.

so run the retro chambered pipes thru the npp dual mode mufflers? Your saying cutting open the npp dual mode mufflers if I understand and fabricating the retro chambered pipes to run inside the muffler right? I did call SW if they had any future plans for a dual mode setup and they said no at this time...darn it.

Thats awesome! I am excited to see what the end result is. One word of advise(you prob know) is look on the classifieds. Seems there is always a NPP for sale in the ZL1 section and I have seen a couple retros too, but thats NOT common.

Gotcha you now Apex. So you think the "sound" of the SW retro chamber exhaust sys should sound the same even though it's going thru the npp mufflers? If you know thanks Apex

When the valves are open the NPP is straight through so under those conditions it would be the same. When they were closed it should be more subdued but still have the deep tone and growl.

Just a reminder: There are two sets of chambers on each pipe. One it located in the 'resonator spot' (as Chase says), but another is in the 'muffler spot'. If you install as Chase says, you'll lose one of those chambers.
I'm not sure how much it will change your sound by eliminating one. You might be able to add it upstream though. Note: I just installed a retro-chambered catback yesterday. It sounds awesome. I understand the desire to keep the sound!
