Auto Headlights - noticed something

I noticed yesterday that when I put on my windshield wipers on delayed swipe that my headlights came on too. I was in a sunshower, and it was VERY bright out still. When I turned off the wipers, so went the lights. How cool is that!! I always thought that these two features should have been linked because in FL I believe it's law to have your lights on when it's raining.

I'm sure all of you knew that already but this is my first GM car in a LONG time. Loving it too.

You are correct, it's the law in Florida when it rains. Also it makes perfect sense to link the two together ...

This could be a new safety feature because almost every state has a lights on law when the wipers r on. I am sure someone on here knows for sure

It's also a LAW in New York also. Wipers on...Lights on. My 2002 Jeep had that also, but it was a setting I could turn on or off, that is, if I turn the wipers on, my headlights come on automatic. Wonder if there is a setting like that on the camaro, or if it is just automatic.

So when you got your wipers on delay are your headlights on delay also? Everytime wiper goes across your lights flash on & off! LOL just kidding. Honestly I think that's cool about lights & wipers being connected! I didn't know that! I guess it's true you learn something new everyday!

I hope you don't mean that the law's dumb. I can't tell you how frightening it can be when you're driving in heavy rain and the person in front of you or coming toward you in the next lane doesn't have his/her lights on.

It makes sense. Be as visible as possible at all times for safety.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say he meant, "it's a law to prevent people from being dummies"

I didn't know about this feature but I like it. The new Camaro will let you turn off the automatic light feature for the headlights if you want to unlike the 4th gen. I am going to try it and see if the lights still can be shut off with the wipers on.

I was unaware of light/wiper laws. I hardly use my wipers, just when it's raining giant cats and dogs.

that feature would get annoying to me just because i know when to turn my lights on. i use them in the rain, fog, dawn/dusk, & especially at night. it just feels like an insult to my intelligence

but that's me...

Same law here in Rhode Island. Lights on when wipers are in use is to make your car more visible to other drivers. Same principle as daytime running lights.

You know there people out there that say "My headlights being on don't help me see any better when it's raining".
