With the SS, 26" tires would have me shifting into 5th gear at the traps. I have an A6 with 3.45 gears from an M6 Camaro - stock A6's have 3.27 gears.

The gearing advantage you may gain with smaller tires are more than made up for by the 6L80E's 4.03/2.36/1.53/1.15/0.85/0.67 gears.

In my opinion, the 4.03 is great for tall tires, which allow you to keep the top end performance.

As I said, we have one member here who has 26" tires, specifically for that reason. It's an interesting theory, but we haven't seen any definitive results.

Also, it's harder to find lightweight, inexpensive 17's that fit without modifying the brakes. 18" TSW's are the wheel of choice because they are meet all three requirements: lightweight, cheap, fit without modification. And my 1.535 tells the only story that matters to me.

IOW, I don't want to be shelling out $3k for wheels alone.

Hey we're not that much slower and we're on stock wheels and Nittos and still haven't aired it out yet, still a very mild tune. 9.50 to 10.2 afr so its FAT and weigh's 4375.

Nice short time, puts you solidly to the top of the drag radial list!

I need to get back to the track to make up some ground!

BMR: for some reason, I listed my DR's as 275's. They've always been 305's if you have time to correct it.
