Carpet/rubber floor mats?
Has anybody bought these GM floor mats for their Camaro [see the 1st photo]? My Chevy dealer offered me a good deal for the set of 4, but I don't know if I can get into that big rubber spot in the center. I mean, I totally get the purpose, but it seems like it would be all slippery when it got wet from rain or snow. Anybody have an opinion on that?
I really dig these from the ChevyMall [see the 2nd photo], but I can get a really good deal on the other ones. Does anybody have these in their Camaro? Are they as nice as they look? Thanks! |

i have the gm ones and I like the extra rubber. less dirt gets in to the fibers and makes it easier to clean. but I recently took them out and I plan on getting husky liners

Thanks for the reply, Steven. Any reason why you decided to pull them out?

I bought the "Floor Liners" from Weathertech - EXCELLENT PRODUCT!
No matter how bad it's raining, I never get any water on the carpets. Those things can hold a couple gallons easy. |

I have carpeted floor mats from Lloyds that look like your 2nd pic. They were the mid priced type of mat. I like them but now there is a worn flat spot where my heel rests when my foot is on the accelerator. I'll eventually replace them, I guess.

I left my factory carpeted mats in and bought a second OEM set to save.

The rubber matting on those scuffs pretty badly. Also, the stitching gets dirty and that can be tough to clean. Unless you treat your car like a hazmat lab they'll get dirty/messed up. They still look good though! I would just look into other options first.

I got my set from USSpeed.com (they look just like the second picture you posted from ChevyMall). I love how they make them a little bigger so it perfectly fits the whole area.
The only mistake I made is I ordered them "Black" instead of "Charcoal" or something a little lighter, so it would match better. I really don't mind the contrast though and the Yellow trim around them (to match the car color, and "Camaro" embroidery) offsets it rather nice. All in all...I really love them. My only tip (unless if you don't mind how "Black" will be darker than your interior) is to order a slightly lighter color than definite Black. It really doesn't bother me, but if I had to do it again I would try to match it a little better.

I got the Lloyd's mats (2nd pic). Took the driver's side to a local upolstery shop and had them sew in a rubber heel pad. Love em.

I agree. If I was to do it again, I would probably get weather-tech or husky-liners.

OP, I have the ZL1 ones that are similar to your picture. Driving, I don't really notice the rubber part. But in contradiction to what some have said, I actually find it difficult to get the rubber part clean. I guess if it was all carpet then you vacuum and whatever you miss is still there and just not seen as much.
So my solution is to keep these, I like them fine, and order another set before next Summer for car show season to just throw in on those days. But bottom line is really no complaints, over all satisfied.

I have the ones in the first pic. They do get dirty easily, as the rubber spot doesnt hide dirt, BUT you wont wear a hole in the carpet with your heel.
And they do clean up great, kinda like a black car, when its dirty it looks worse than other colors, but when its clean it looks better than other colors. |
