Anyone else want the RS package without the 20s on their LT?
I really like the HID headlamps, and the taillights and spoiler are ok I guess ( I was planning on putting a GMPP blade spoiler on it anyway and I still don't see a whole lot of darkenedness on the taillamps) but I am most in love with the 18" aluminum 5-spokes on the 1LT. If it came down to it, (which it most likely will) I'll just get the regular headlights. The 18s are more important to me than the HIDs, but just barely. I suppose I could just find some guy in a 1LT and trade/sell him the wheels, but then people might ask why I have an RS camaro with 18s on it. I *wish* I could order the RS sans 20" wheels. Or just the HIDs by themselves. And I know you can buy HIDs aftermarket, but it wouldn't be the same, and I'm the type of guy where I want every accessory on my car to be either OEM or factory-installed GMPP. (dealer installed is ok too.) Anyone else share this view?
again, I don't *hate* the 20s, I prefer the 18s. Both in style and in view of future maintenance costs. And I don't *hate* the stock headlights, but I *prefer* the HIDs. It is worth noting that both motor trend and autoweek liked the ways their IVERs handled with the 18s on better than the 19s or 20s. |

I hear you but we have no choice with the 20's, it's part of the "sports" look.
I can live with the 20's if they weren't Summer tires, we get enough rain that I want all-seasons but like you mentioned... future maintence can be expensive with 20's. I read a thread where Cheryl was asked about us not wanting the summer tires, so hopefully they will offer the all-season. Just want to handle wet roads better.

I know. I guess I'll have to drive both of them and see what I like better, but push come to shove I think I'll err on the side of 1LT no RS. If the front end looks as cool as the silver SS at Indy, I'll be just fine without Halos.

I am sure if you don't want them there will be hundreds of people looking to trade you once the car is out.

Franknbeans,
I thought about that. And it seems the perfect solution. Then, that nagging whispering voice in the back of my head says, "here we are 35 years from now, your car has 35k original miles on it, all numbers match, sure it's only a V6, but this thing is PRISTINE. Hey.. where are your midnight silver wheels?" and I cringe a little. I realize it's ridiculous. But I hate to mangle original cars. I wish GM would sell me an RS package wheels-delete. They won't, so I'll let you all know if I find a solution. |

THose are my thoughts also. . . I'm keeping it original.
Solution - purchase a set of polished rims from people who will be upgrading. THen just put your Midnight silver rims away for storage. |

Yeah, I'd have to do that, as weird and expensive at it would be. But I don't want the polished ones. I want the 18" painted silver base LT wheels. They scream IROC-Z to me.

To be frank...I wish my 2SS didn't come with 20's. I plan on actually driving my car...year round - Do you know how hard it is to get snow tires for 20's?

summer tires, especially pzero's have a great wet traction rating. the part about them being summer tires is that they dont like sub 30 degree temps. they are still excellent in rain though we dont know one way or the other yet.

Well now I feel retarded for not knowing that about Summer tires, being I'm only using my Camaro for none Winter months, I guess I'm ok. Thanks Headpunter!

Snow I'm sure would be a real challenge for summer tires. I thought I read that only the optional 21s were summer-only, and that even the 20s had all-seasons somewhere.. I still think the 18s would be a better all-around tire for four season use and cost of replacement down the road.
