Maybe save up and trade in for a 6th Gen base model 4 cylinder if mpg is a big deal. Or keep the v8.

Well this is the first time that I have heard someone say that they have a 2SS and want to trade for a 2LT. OP if you want to trade down then go for it.

This totally makes no sense at all! So why didn't you think of this 3 months ago? Just think how much money you would have saved then.

What..... turn in your man card at the dealership too.. I wouldn't even trade my TL type S dd for a 2LT.. way better options you need to explore based on your criteria.

i recently traded a 2011 V6 1LT 73,000 miles. for a 2013 2SS 18,800 miles - my insurance went up $10 a month. Not much difference in the highway mileage. but when you hit the gas pedal on the SS you can actually see the gas gauge moving! ok, not really, but it seems like it around town good luck with your decidion!

I went down that road. You will REGRET IT!!!! I have been trying to get back into a V8 ever since I got my LS. I have a nice looking car but, it's not a V8. Like I read in an earlier post. A V8 holds it's resale value way better than a V6. I just tried to trade it in so, I know. You have to do what's best for you. I think you will regret it later, I know I do. Now I'm upside down on mine and pretty much stuck with what I have now.

Yes he is crazy. There's a voice in his head saying you don't deserve an SS. Or he's not telling us the full story. Maybe his wife or his mother is making him.

As others have said, I've never heard of someone trading down to a V6. You haven't mentioned the model year of each car, so it's impossible to tell if you are getting a good deal. You obviously bought over your comfort zone (money-wise) when you bought the V8, but I don't think you will realize $100 per month savings by trading to a V6. If $100 a month makes that much difference to you, it sounds like you bit off more than you can chew in the first place. Good luck to ya!

As far as cost very little difference in fuel or insurance, not sure why you are trading but I think you are going to lose money in the end.

It will take years to make up the money you lose on a trade from the slightly better gas mileage.

I did a few mods to my V6 and it runs great and looks great, and I am completely happy with it. That said, if/when I ever get another Camaro it would be a V8. If the OP has his reasons for going to a 6 from an 8 and doesn't mind the difference in performance, he should be happy with it.
