That sounds like alot.

ok... sorry.

I had a 99 camaro that had one of the 1st stroker LS1's in the country. was a 382, it originally put down a pitiful 372rwhp on the dyno and after 150 pulls, a few dozen parts changes, the LS1 community advanced and a couple years, put down 490rwhp and was running high 10's. cracked a pin boss and swapped to an Iron 408. ran 10.50's with 550rwhp N/A and 10.1X's on N20. heads flowed 286 @ .300

I remember doing an LT4 conversion would get 430+ FWHP pretty easy. After reading the last couple GMHTP issues running an LT1 build with Edelbrock heads and intake, I'm not too impressed. It seemed like the $2500 conversion you used to be able to get from Summit was pretty reasonable and a guaranteed 400+ horse, but this latest GMHTP testing with the Edelbrock stuff seems a little disappointing. I'm not putting down the company at all, I just expected more for all the work the mag' is doing... I'm just saying that I believe 'Spike is right on the money IMVHO

Nothing you can't change though and yea... there are LOTS of 4th gens that will out perform the 5th gens... they're just not stock though remember, our cars are lighter too so we don't need as much power to be as fast as or faster than them. I'm just going to keep going till I run out of ways to keep traction then I may back it down till its just right and I can put useful power to the ground and not have 20000rwhp that will get me no where fast. Understand?
Not to argue, but remember bone-stock A4 LT1s were putting down about 230-250 RWHP from about '93 through '95 and a little more in '96 and '97 because of dual cats'. To have a cam'-only car get another 100+ RWHP is a bit optimistic, IMVHO. If you don't have dyno' or cam' specs', what has the car run in the 1320'? You can get a good idea with trap speed, for example, in cars about your cars weight, 300 RWHP will put you around 106-107 MPH through the traps. FWIW, my car, which weighs similar to yours, back when I was running 334/365 RWHP/RWTQ was running about 108 MPH on street tires with a lot of spin. My brother's car (close to mine at the time - lid, stall, 3.73s, CB), running 327 RWHP, was running almost 109 with DRs. If you can post trap speeds, we might be able to get you a pretty rough idea of your power

I shouldn't have too much problem with even a modded 5th Gen:

stock shortblock
LS6 intake
P&P stock TB
TSP Torquer V.3 cam
PRC Stage 2.5 5.3 heads
Pacesetter LTs w/OR Y dumped before rear axle
Fuddle 3600
3.73s
Koni SAs
Strano sways and springs
Strano brake kit
UMI K-member, upper and lower front arms, LCAs, TA, PHB and relocation brackets

I think I have a 5th gen covered in pretty much every area of performance. If not, there is always nitrous. Plus being around 600 pounds lighter doesnt hurt.
Havent dyno'd the current setup (H/C/I installed last weekend) but will at least get some times tonight.

Sorry, couldn't resist.

What if said 4th gen already has a cammed, 6.2L L92 / LS3 engine in it when the 5th gen debuts.

Having said that, there is always a bigger fish.

If so, what mods did you make and what are your approx numbers.

Thanks.
I have a 97' LT-1, M6 and am pushing 408bhp off of a cam, heads (LT4 on both), full magnaflow exhaust (headers back), HO MAF, larger MAF ends, tune and full synthetic (RP). Wanna do a 383 stroker and better headers (future projects), but you can easily get an LT-1 over 400+hp at the wheels, just depends on how much ya wanna spend.

I should be able to take a stock 5th gen SS. I'm putting down 376rwhp/369rwtq, that's about 430fwhp. Plus my car weighs much less than a 5th gen, at 3,520lbs. My best e.t. is a 12.44 @ 114 on street tires. There are a lot of 4th gen's running around that will take a stock 5th gen, but it won't be long until there are modded 5th gens out there also. Money is the only limiting factor in how fast any car is.

heads/cam/stall/3.42 gear in the stock 10 bolt, 411rwhp and 11.7 at the track

i still have plenty more i could do to out perform a stock 5th gen, but then i will have invested so much more. i had planned on swapping out the cam for a blower cam and then going with a D1SC procharger, but once i found out the 5th gen go for production, i said to hell with it, i'll start with a better base
