Is this sound normal?

So, still hunting.

Was checking for vacuum leaks, which I haven't found any so far, and I noticed this. The back drivers side spark plug is ticking. The ticking increases and decreases with engine speed. Also, the electrical tape around the wires has been peeled back - which is weird since I've never messed with that area of the car at all.

hmmm... sounds louder than the normal ticking from the HPFP... Might be worth having the dealership check it out... but my first guess is they'll say it's "normal"... Have you double checked your oil?

I have a 2011 2LT with the same exact noise. Been meaning to take it to the dealership but haven't had time.

Does anyone know if this is normal or not?

I think the only reason it sounds louder is because he put the camera mic right next to the engine. The day my engine blew, the ticking was louder even from the original distance of the camera in that video. And the ticking was more rapid, almost repeating non stop. There were no pauses like the normal ticking we get from the HPFP.

Not only louder, but has a different kind of tone to it... but could be right... could be camera placement...

Check out this video at 45 and 1:21 you'll hear the normal cliking for most of V6's.

Sounds pretty normal, although in person may be different... As far as the tape goes, over time with heat and stuff it will unravel and lose shape a little bit. Bad places in mine I re-did and cleaned up.

Hard to say on video...but sounds just like my car does.

Wish it didn't tick that loud, but it seems pretty normal. I hear that sound is decreased on the LFX engine.
