Exhaust pop?

Sometimes on start up or high RPM deaccleration my exhaust has a loud pop(once) almost like a engine back fire sound. I bought this vechile used the orginal owner had the muffler/cats/resonators deleted. And had true duals put on coming right off the headers. Since I live in a low population area this is fine (no emissions) I have talked to other SS owners around and some says their cars pop also when deacclerating from high RPM. Any ideals what could be causing this? Car runs great not trowing any codes or anything. Was just curious what was causing this and if I should be concerned or not? The vechile never does this it I'm in drive or sports mode btw in M using the paddle shifters.

Thanks

Decel pop is due to the way these cars are tuned from the factory. Very normal.

The popping sound is called exhaust reversion. It is caused by rich unburnt exhaust gasses meeting with oxygen rich air that pulses up the tail pipes when the throttle is closed. It is caused by the camshaft overlap (when the intake and exhaust valves are open at the same time to aid in exhaust scavenging within the cylinders.

In our case, it happens when DFCO (decel fuel cut off) occurs.

Also the car has "true" dual exhaust from the factory.

Janetty tuned mine out by request. I think the pipes collect more soot.
I have a new car with factory tune that pops. No plans to change this one.
