Regarding camaro emblem on side

Hi I have a question i have a new 2012 white Camaro and i wanted to remove the emblem on the sides and either replace them with black billet camaro emblem or painting the chrome ones already on the car. I just wanted to know which would be more practical and if painting it would be cheaper what paint should i get if i want a matte black finish on the emblem? Thanks for any feedback.

nothing, you just tape off the sides and spray away,
anything you don't want will peel right up and won't leave anything behind
I did it to mine, my lower deck lid between my lights is plastidip.
youtube it. it's so easy.

if you use plasti dip you dont need to take them off just tape off the car, plasti dip can be peeled back off and wipes off paint if you have a boo boo.

if you take them off use 3m auto tape to put them back on

If you remove them you will need some 3m auto trim tape. Same thing they are on with now.

Use a blow dryer, fishing line, goo gone and alcohol to remove and prep for reinstall.

Plasti-dip is the quickest, easiest way though it may chip and you'll have to re-do it from time to time. (Not a big deal seeing as Plasti-dip isn't the most expensive thing in the world)

Removing and painting might require more effort but depending on the paint and painting skills of who does it, it may be a little more durable and longer lasting.

I took the factory ones off and replaced them with matte black aftermarkets. The only suggestion I would make to you is that if you are goint to try to paint the ones you have, tape them off really well on the car and do it that way. They are cheap plastic and bend or break really easily when heated up. Almost every letter I took off would have been unsalvagable. I'm sure if you were REALLY REALLY careful you might be able to manage taking them off in one peice, but I'm guessing there would be damage of some kind done.

If plastidip doesn't work for you get a hold of Lupe here on the forums. His username is overhaulinengines. I ordered a set of matte black from him. Reasonably priced and ships quick. Will be installing the heritage grill, side emblems , and tail light bezels I recieved from him on my Summit White ss this weekend.

Peeling it out from in and between the letters without it peeling away something you want would be a huge pain in the ass. I suppose it could be done if you REALLY wanted.

I'd take them off and use 3m auto tape as stated above, to put them back on.

I just spent the $20 and bought new ones, painted them and put them on. It was worth the money not to have to peel off the old adhesive.
