Does the NPP (dual mode) exhaust boost the ZL1 HP?

Corvettes benefit from this, does the ZL1?

If not why not?

I have been wondering for some time, thanks for the input.

The ZL1 comes with it. The advertised HP is for the complete package. There is no zl1 without it with which to compare it

So we lose HP when it's closed?

It's always open under WOT so that doesn't matter

You're not in boost when you're cruising around with them closed, either.

the valves open at idle to 1000rpms, then shut for cruising then open up once again when you step on it. Someone did a comparison on the corvetteforum and saw no low-end gaisn from having them fully open, so more than anything its just a sound thing.

The greatest restriction point on the ZL1 factory exhaust system is the converters, so it doesn't matter if the muffler flaps are open or shut from a peak HP stand point.
The NPP option on a 1LE doesn't give any increased advertised HP for this reason.
The NPP was incorporated into the Camaro platform (starting with the ZL1 in '12) for exhaust note purposes.

Does anyone know if the NPP is programed the same on the ZL1 as the other Camaros, or did they us something different.

I heard that the exhaust controller on the ZL1 is built into the ECU, however the SS camaro's arent supposed to have that exhaust module built into the ECU so maybe its an external module that controls it just like on the previous Z06's and so on.

This is what I personally think and not necessarily true. One way to find out is to see if the valve remains open on the 1LEs at idle.

...the valves open up around 3,200 RPM. That's when the thunder of the Chevy god's roar to the high heavens.

I have been wondering for some time, thanks for the input.

on the vette's the cars with NPP are rated 8hp more. In 2008 when i bought my Z51 NPP cars were rated at 438 and non-npp cars were rated at 430.

since the CTS-V is 556 and the only difference is the airbox and exhaust seems logical could be gaining some of the extra power from the exhaust.
