We used to have a sign around here for that :your dealer is an idiot:

They can't deny you warranty work unless the recall affected it in some way. In this case a key would affect basically squat.

Basically my question to Becky was for someone that has always been reliable to answer a question that I had seen asked in numerous threads about the recall.

I've talked to a few different dealers and this is the 3rd time I'll post this now. Chevrolet is not making anyone do this recall. There is no such thing as mandatory recalls, it's customer choice. When you go in you acknowledge you know about the recall and deny the service work EVERY time you go to the dealer. All Chevrolet does is file that so that on the off chance you turn your car off by hitting your key and you can't come back and sue them for this exact situation! They can't deny your warranty coverage for a key recall. Just think of how plausible that is for a second. Say something crazy happens like a cracked block, you think Chevy could EVER deny that because you didn't turn in your original key? Lol it's just common sense. Besides, they would get murdered trying to win that case.

Thanks, there are too many threads with too many different posts to see them all. I guarentee though someone else will still ask the question again...

Recall letters have not been sent out yet, and yes they will need to reprogram for the transponder in the new key.

Good thing I have no warranty so that doesn't matter.

Amen to that! We have too many gun laws which aren't enforced now! When a failed background check is done, it should be investigated. Ok, enough said!
