Just off work, driving home after a long day of moving people through our nation's airports, had to divert the SS for gas. Came up to the stoplight to make a left onto the intersate on-ramp. Traffic behind me..... light goes green. Two lanes turning into two lanes on the on-ramp, and then into one....you know how it goes. I accelerate "normally" in first and all of a sudden the car in my rear view mirror swerves into the lane next to me. With the other car still on my right quarter panel, I execute a shift from 1st to 2nd to show them "their place" (showoff) and I hit 4th INSTEAD !!!!

Dummy.

Immediate loss of RPM. And I immediately left off the gas considering the merge would have been tragic - wasn't wanting to run him anyway, just accelerate to highway speed (70) FAST... Of course the now readily identifiable Dodge Charger flies by, and I can only think to myself the stories he will tell about this one. From what I saw it was an RT, smaller Hemi, and not the SRT8 - the latter of which I totally respect. Anyhow, thankfully I am not a street racer or I might have just caught up with him.

Anyway, what a way to TANK.

I was way up on RPM for the skip shift to engage.
