BC : front licence plates

Not sure if I've missed this posted elsewhere. My appologies if it is a repeat.

I was wondering if anyone is relocating or using alternative mounting methods for the front Licence plates on their new Camaro's?

There a way around having holes in the front? =/

I also found this posted on bclaws.ca taken from the MVA regulations.

Attachment of number plates
3.011 Number plates issued for a vehicle under the Commercial Transport Act or Motor Vehicle Act must be attached

(a) one plate to the front and one plate to the rear of the vehicle, if 2 number plates are issued for a vehicle, and

(b) to the rear of the vehicle, if a single number plate is issued for a vehicle.

[en. B.C. Reg. 279/2006.]

Would this not then mean that if I were to order a Camaro WITHOUT the front plate bracket, and my dealer only issued a single plate... then I could drive it LEGALLY with only a rear plate?

I am working with a supplier for a flip up holder that does not screw to the front fascia.

Picking up a sample this weekend.

Did you specifically order your car with no bracket?
I was talking with the Manager at my dealership who was saying he thinks I can't get around having it factory installed. But said I'd have to talk with another guy about it on the weekend to inquire into it & find out for sure.

Let me know how the flip up thing is lookin when you find out more =P I am eager to find ANY alternatives if possible.

Can't you just remove the plates in front?

Yeah, but if a bracket was drilled in.. You'd then have holes in your bumper (that's the bit I'm hoping to escape)

The mount is in the trunk when the car arrives from Oshawa.

Take it home with you and don't let them install it. Prepare a waver and sign it releasing them from all responsibility ( if they tell you they MUST mount it.)

Cars roll out OF DEALERSHIPS every day without the mount up front in BC.

PM me ....... MY DEALER WANTS SOME OF THESE MOUNTS.

LOL.... IF you get two like I will.... keep it in the car and tell the cop you will do it when you get home... our code is a bit nicer.. but we are still required to have two plates :( I wont drill.. and no my dealer didnt install front either..

BC front Plate

If ICBC issues you 2 plates then one front and one back.

Or you do what lots of people do - pay the fine, when the police finally stop you.

Really? That sucks then! Hopefully, those front plates aren't factory installed.

I picked up my car on Tuesday from the dealer.
I asked for the front bracket to not be installed.
It came in a bag in the trunk from the factory, and is a dealer installed item that needs 4 holes drilled, and is rivited onto the front bumper.
The dealer left it off for me, and I will wait and see what the police do if I get pulled over.
