What manual did you get this out of? It should be .040".

Reviving an old thread; my Helms manual for the LS3 calls for .060" gap as the first post states - this has to be wrong! The 90K used plug gap is .040" and the new AC Delco 41-110 plugs come gapped at .038

this is a old thread. DO NOT TRY TO GAP A IRIDIUM PLUG WITH A REG GAPPER. You need a special gaper. Checking the gap will wipe the iridium off the plug.

The iridium will not wipe off. Tap the ground strap gently on a work bench top to close the gap or carefully use needle nose pliers to move the ground strap away from the electrode and avoid contacting the electrode. The iridium is extremely brittle and the tip can break off when even a small amount of side force is applied to the wire-like electrode. Ordinary blade type feeler gauges are fine for checking the gap. Less experienced people should stay away from the round gauges because rotating the gauge with too much pressure can cause a side load on the electrode and break the tip off.
