Most detailers in this forum seem to like to use the water "sheeting" method to get their car mostly dry, and then towel or blower their car to finish. Does anyone have any experience using a Waterblade to dry their cars, and if so, experience any scratching or other problems? I'm prepared for my new car with the 2x2 bucket method, 3 mitts (top-bottom-tires), along with a foam gun. To me, it seems like you waste a lot of water sheeting to off. With a clean car, and a silicone blade, there should be no marring or scratching, right?

I use a silicone blade my wife purchased from Bed Bath and Beyond. She would use it for the glass shower until I stole it from her. I use it on our black Tahoe and my white SS. I love it. No water spots. Your not sitting there rinsing out a towel. I still go over some parts with a towel because there is always some water left over. I have no scratches on my car from it.

I have one and they work great. I use it on my daily drivers, but I'm not going to use it on my 87 Silverado or Camaro, just not worth the risk.
Waffle microfiber towels work great as well and if you do the sheeting rinse it only takes minimal drying.

The blade itself isn't the issue, its the margin for error.... the smallest amount of grit or anything on the surface and its gonna scratch the hell out of the paint. Unless you wash/dry your car in a hermitically sealed chamber theres always a chance of SOMETHING getting on there: pollen, dust, a spot you missed.

Best method is to sheet rinse, blow dry, and microfiber towel dry whats left with a drying agent like detail spray or waterless wash.

I use only my leaf blower,nothing touches my car once it's washed.

My father-in-law has one, and his cars look like he dries them with a brillo pad. He has all the best soaps does two bucket wash, used the best wash mitt and can't understand why his cars look like shit. I tried to tell him that it's that piece of crap waterblade.

Great video Dylan...looks like wasting a few extra gallons of water is worth not risking any damage to the paint...I only live a mile from Lake Michigan...so water is cheap!! Thanks for the input guys. A sheening we will go!

I had one for my 4th gen. It was a PITA to use since it didnt like to conform to the odd round lines the 4th gen had. I kept it in the car for whenever I made a stop at the do-it-yourself car wash, or for whenever it rained.
