New 2011 SS observations

Picked up my new Camaro Wed afternoon. So far only 2 things I don't like about it.
1. AFM. It some times makes it seem as the engine is laboring, before it kicks back to 8 cylinders..
2. No spare tire.

A lot more power than the 98 Z28 I had. Fun to drive.

Still working through some of the electronic features.

Would like to be able to turn off the AFM. It may not be hurting anything but had I known how it worked, would have saved some $'s and went with the std trans. Thought about a chip, but don't want to affect the warranty.

The last 2 flats I've had, required a new tire so that BS in the trunk would be of little use! Got to wonder what was Government Motors thinking.

Maybe you should have bought a mustang, by the way, it's General Motors.

kind of a d*** move there... oh and just call a flat bed, I'd never change my tire on the side of the road.

They used to be.

PS:

Where the last tire self destructed, there was no cell service and no homes with in 15 miles.

We can attribute many of the irritating flaws in the Camaro to unfettered government, so why not use a name that refelcts this?

No spare tire - Needed to save weight to make CAFE "regulations"
AFM - Needed to avoid guzzler tax imposed by regulation
Skip-Shift - Regulated by same guzzler tax
Thin/Chipping/Lumpy Paint - EPA regulations force use of inferior water based paints.

I could go on for pages...

Note that all of these flaws are caused by regulations and not actual LAWS that the people can have an affect on at the ballot box.

So all these regulations are only imposed on General Motors?

Not at all. Have you priced a Charger or Challenger? They'll include the gas guzzler tax to your end bill. I think the Mustang meets the minimum MPG so they don't have to pay it either. As for paint, I don't see any more problems with GM than Ford or Dodge.

Ford also sells cars with the power inflator and no spare tire, the Shelby GT500.

Not everybody will like AFM, you're right. But I be the majority of people appreciate the improved mileage. Not everybody likes the 20" wheels either, but most people appreciate the enhanced look that they give. You can't win em all. Overall General Motors did great on the car!

cmore: If you can detect your AFM maybe you should tell your dealer to take a look at it.
I've had my A6 SS for a year now with 8,000 miles and I have never noticed it. Nothing labors or kicks in like you describe.

I agree except about the paint!!!!the type of paint used is the same paint used for the Corvette and no paint chipping problem there!!!.....

Water based, base coat clearcoat...I believe paint problem is somewhere in the factory process...ie..prep.primer etc...Lets hope the get it rectified or the NEW/ OLD GM will be repainting a lot of Cars.
