I am in Vegas and just ordered my 1LE from Ed Bozarth Chevrolet and it was a similar deal. The only problem with those rebates and incentives is that you get whatever the deal is when you actually take delivery of the vehicle. If you look at the USAA page for the program it will show the expiration dates of the rebates. I didn't realize that until after I placed the order so I'm hoping the rebates at that time (March) are still good.
I'd you haven't also considered Costco auto program, look into that. Worth buying a membership just for that and if they both (Costco and USAA) offer rebates you get both. In my case the actual cost of the car as better through Costco because they were offering GM Preferred Pricing which is a little better than invoice and better than USAA at the time. Again, this doesn't mean dick because I'm not getting the car until March and it could all change. Ed Bozarth Chevrolet was absolutely awesome, no haggle or fighting the rebate programs. Very pleasant experience. On the other hand I went to Findlay Chevrolet and had the worst experience of my life with a dealership. Don't buy from them. Good Luck! |

tbirdsleeve - I've a similar deal with USAA and ordered in SoCal. Was told to wait until the car arrived, end of Feb, to issue the coupons thru USAA but to apply say early Feb for the USAA loan. Your deal sounds good to me. I looked at Costco as well and the advantage for me was the having the loan issued thru USAA and getting up to .5 % off the loan. Loan is good for 45 days according to USAA. I've bought other cars thru USAA and never had an issue. I thought the deals were good, better than other services. I'd do it. M

Thanks for the responses everyone--I worry I may be getting greedy but thinking when I go back tomorrow I may ask if they will drop the $391 I am over invoice and let me buy at straight invoice-if they so no it's no big deal--getting a highly desired/limited availability car ordered fom the factory EXACTLY like I want it with ALL options desired--and--delivered to my new assignment in South Carolina all for (worst case) $391 over invoice isn't to shabby--just nice to get other enthusiasts opinions--have a great night!!!

Offer $40,428 + profit. Profit is a function of your willingness to pay and the market (by zip code and the car the dealer's willingness to accept).
The profit should be less than the holdback since they will get 100% of the holdback regardless on an ordered car. Your car's holdback is $1327.35. I think I paid $800 in profit. Some people believe in $100 profit for every $10k. My procurement prof at college did. So maybe I paid a bit over that formula but I live in an area where the market is hot. Don't worry. You're not screwing the dealer. This is an easy transaction for them. $400-800 on your car without the holdback is nice dough. They want to up sell all the finance goodies and your service business anyway. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

So $1250 plus GM preferred pricing is what you can get from a dealership. Being active duty has its perks... |

Hmmmm--dealer telling me preferred pricing is $43,682.41 and then yes they acknowledge $500 rebate and $750 USAA which brings it down to $42,432.41--getting confused now--sorry--appreciate the advice!

$42,432.41 still $648 over invoice ($41,784.41) with applicable rebates included--bottom line I need to negotiate another $648 off to be thrilled with my deal!!!

tbird ... from your initial post:
Quote:
And recently you said: Quote:
41,785.00 - invoice - 1,327.35 - holdback (MSRP * 3%) ------------- 40,457.64 Keep in mind, I'm not considering your military benefit here. Nor am I considering the $1000 or $500 cash back incentive since those come from GM, not the dealer. So, if you want to be more particular about YOUR true cost, try something like this but add your military benefit in here where appropriate ... 41,785.00 - invoice - 1,327.35 - holdback (MSRP * 3%) ------------- 40,457.64 + 600.00 - profit (just using this as a place holder) - 500.00 - Manufacturer rebate ------------ 40,557.65 See, if you're saying they are selling to you at invoice + $391, understand how much money the dealer is making ... (forget your rebate for a minute) ... this is from the DEALER perspective: $ (41,785.00) - those parenthesis mean they are PAYING that money to GM + 42,176.00 - what you're saying they quoted you (invoice + 391) + 1,327.35 - holdback (MSRP * 3%) ---------------- $ 1,718.35 - dealer profit I checked pricing on truecar.com with your options and got the following: 43,926 INVOICE 44,005 Average Price Paid 45,495 MSRP When I look at MY car, here's the numbers: 40,623 INVOICE 40,753 Average Price Paid 41,825 MSRP The Estimated True Car Price is: 39,702 If I paid that, the dealer profit would have been 413 which is close the $100 per $10K I suggested in the thread above: Real Cost = (Invoice - Holdback) or 40,623 - (41,825 * .03) = 39,369. Expressed differently: +39,702 -39,369 ----------- =413 But I offered MORE profit than that given my zip code and maybe I started at $400 profit and should have started lower. Then dealer actually asked for $1200 profit but then we settled in the middle (1200+400)/2 = 800. Make sense? Go get em! |

Good luck with your purchase and PCS! I'm AD at Tyndall AFB, Florida.
I'm currently working a deal through USAA for a very similar car. Just trying to get the dealership to offer me a reasonable amount for my '10 1SS RS. |
