front license plate on or off ?

Does anyone have thier front plate mounted on the bumber. from all the photos ive seen noone has a front plate. I live in NY and as far as I know I think it is against the law not to have a front plate.

Even though against the law, I found some good info on my states DMV web site ...

here's mine...the bracket is shaped to fit the bumper and mine was already installed when we picked up the car, even though the dealer was NOT supposed to...so I made the best of it, and got vanity plates for the 1st time in my life, so it's kinda ok...I even got my plates published in Newsday in the Sunday edition where they feature vanity plates, so now I'm famous...lol...it's hard to tell by the picture, but the bracket is v-shaped to the exact contour of the front bumper and sits flush against it...hope this pic helps...

Hey mrgoombatts, I'm a fellow NY'r and I have no plans of installing the front plate on my car. This won't be as much of an issue to me as I'll only be driving this car during the summer when it's not raining. So as you know since you are a fellow NY'r I won't be driving my car much :(

Long story short with the small amount of miles I'll be putting on each year I am willing to take the chance.

i've had mine for 5 months and put a little over 4k miles, still no stops for not having my plate on. I need to talk to my insurance to find out if it will go up for a ticket, but I hope i dont ever have to put it on. If my insurance says it wont' go up, i will pay as many tickets as i have to. I love the look of the front end too much to put a license place on it

Been driving sans front plate since May with no hassles - while illegal my belief is unless you have another violation most officers/state troopers will not bother to pull you over.

If still concerned see this thread for new option plus matching color bracket option from Top Flight Productions

http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=41485

If Top Flight offers a removable option as they do for the Corvette I may consider it as my SIM is my daily driver.

Grrrrrrr leave it to the man to ruin a beautiful car! I hate having the front plate on my vette. I've been hassled for having the front cap on it but no tickets yet. We should come up with a way to mount the plate behind the mesh back there.

When I picked mine up at the dealer I asked if there was a front plate mount and the salesman found it in the trunk. They said they don't install these on Vettes and won't install them on Camaros either. They say the cops typically look the other way with these types of cars. Been driving it that way since July with no issues. I refuse to ruin the front facia by mounting the factory frame. I did buy a stow-n-go from swiftfmotorsports but won't put it on unless forced to. Supposedly here in NY they are going to make everyone buy new plates at $25 set+normal reg fee, apparently to increase revenue. Why don't they save money and have the inmates stamp out just one? Trying to keep them working I guess.

Pretty much the same thing for me here in Iowa. The dealer doesn't put front plates on corvettes or camaros and said that even though the front plate's supposed to be required by law, it doesn't usually cause any trouble.
