Buying extended warranty? A must or a waste?
What's up guys?
Just bought my camaro and I'm still debating on buying the extended warranty or not. Did any of you buy it? How much was it and what are your experiences with them? Thanks |

when you had them "turned off" did you get your moniez back? WHen I signed up for mine i remember it tacked on a few extra buckazoids onto my total price and hiked up my monthly payments. I wanna kill mine too...but I'm just curious before I went to the dealership asking about it and get fed a line of BS ya know?

Well it depends what you plan on doing with the car, do you plan on modding it and getting a tune at some point? Because if that's the case then I would not recommend the extended warranty, it'd just be wasted money. If you void your warranty, you void your extended warranty as well.

I think they are a waste. Especially considering how the dealers now spent their time trying to figure out how to deny the problem exist instead of working issue.

I didn't get the extended since I'll either mod the engine with a Supercharger or get the ZL-1. I haven't done any engine mods what so ever, not even an intake.

I just bought my extended warranty...72 months and 100K miles for $1675 (dealer cost) the finance manager even got out the book and showed me dealer cost. I bought it cause I run about 18k miles a year in rush hour traffic. So its a daily driver, I'm a student and I'm only doing bolt-ons so I dont have much else to worry about. If you need any info ask me!

Not worth it, IMO.
The car has 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/100 powertrain. The 3/36 should cover any annoying bugs or gripes you might have within the first few years. Once you get to about about 50k-75k miles you might have ONE warranty repair to do, but remember you still have powertain coverage. Most likely you won't use 1000 or 2000 dollars worth of coverage.

With 5 years/100,000 miles on the power train, who needs it?
I did buy a wheel and tire warranty, however. |

I bought one, but am thinking about cancelling it. I received the warranty paperwork a few days ago, and am dissappointed in what the "bumper to bumper" extended warranty does not cover: wind noise, squeaks, rattles, clutch disc, to name a few. I didn't expect normal "wear" items to be covered, but my thinking is that if my clutch disc fails in a relatively short time, it has a problem other than normal wear.

For those that have the GM extended warranty, and are thinking of cancelling, you should get a full refund if you have not made a claim, and have had it less than 60 days. After the 60 days, the refund is pro-rated. At least that's what my paperwork says.

I bought it just the other day and I have 32 k on my car. It's been in service department 8 times now. It does cover ac, gas pump, water pumps, oil pumps etc. Those things that are not covered by your powertrain warranty. Now the bumper to bumper does exclude a few things that I didn't like however seeing how my car has already had issue and let's face it GM quality is almost pure shit. It's good to pay for the extra coverage. |
