STILL waiting for a 1LE time @ the Ring. The Z28 time is EPIC, especially knowing they think it could run 5-6 seconds faster

Agreed they will likely not run it but hell, the 2010 SS ran it...now the ZL1, ZR1, Z28 have all ran it...why not the 1LE?

And here I am digressing. To me the Z28 times are very impressive. There is a limit to what you can do with a 3,700 pound RWD front engine sedan with "only" 505 crank HP. Easy enough to uncork another 50 HP though. So this modded Z28 on a dry track could run sub 7:30s IMO. Let's see how it does with shorter tracks.

I don't think that the 1LE made up ~33 seconds on the SS. Sure the suspension is a lot better, but power is the same. A 7:46.69 would put it only 5.42 seconds behind a ZL1. It might do well until the long straight near the end, but the ZL1's sheer power would put some serious distance on the 1LE, IMO.

My wishful thinking maybe, being a 1LE fan boy. I'm sure Chevy has run one there.

So here is what I am wondering about the Z28. Maybe it is possible the Z28 could have more than 505 HP. Why couldn't Chevy supply a real aggressive LS7 tune, a ported and better angled TB if that helps, a lower bumper air scoop, and the best Camaro CAI ever that needs a tune on the Z28? Then if they felt the need to, just supply a limited powertrain warranty. What real Z28 buyer would care?

They did other radical stuff like lighter glass.

I would bet 530+ HP at the crank easy.

Could it be because the SS, ZL1 and the Z/28 are are separate models but the 1LE is just an optional performance package for the SS?
