Great power to weight ratio with a really broad torque curve (for a V-6), the best steering feel in any American car, and it starts at just over 22k? Of course they are going to be stoked. The American auto industry is giving us something to celebrate of late, the revised Mustang is a part of that.

I wonder what the 3.31 would bring the MPG down too...

They did great things with the new V6 mustang ... to each his own on looks. Personally I think the new mustang looks sweet !!

Its a great time to be living in 300+HP V6 times

The same magazines were quite excited about the new V8 and V6 Camaros too.

Some of you may hate Mustangs, but competition always benefits the consumer. Had the retro looking and powerful 5th Gen Stangs not sold so well, GM may very well have not resurrected the Camaro.

A little competition is good for both of the marques...I just hope the guys at Chevy have some suprises in store for Ford with the 2011 Camaro. Gotta keep up with the "Jonse's".

Plus, Motor Trend did not get to flog the Mustang, just ride along.

28-29, lol, not too much I'm sure, but still no 30mpg rated. With our steeper from the factory set, I'm sure the 2.73 car won't be quite as quick, but the ones with the 3.31 are going to be a handful!!

x2!! Now Dodge needs to step up, or step out. With Ford answering Chevy like this, there is no excuse not to have a 300hp v6 car, at least in your version of the pony car. Even if it's still the heaviest, second ugliest (behind the Mustang of course, hehe ), blandest interior car of the bunch, if nothing else, make it 300hp and give it 6 speeds. Oh, and keep it around $25k.

These are cool times though. Just how long do we have them?

Challenger is getting the Pentastar for 11, hopefully a DI verision with at least 300HP and hopefully will offer a manual transmission (alsways thought offering the SE with just an auto was a mistake).

Not only an auto, but a 4-speed auto at that. The 2010s finally at least got a 5-speed.

Very well stated... Not that long since conventional wisdom was that the American muscle car was dead !

Competition like this is all good news for the car enthusiast.
Mustang had too much clear market space for too long - and although it was clearly a good car - now that it has a true competitor again at last we can expect to see some excitement in this space - especially with GM showing such a high % of all cars selling with top spec and RS package whch shows that the enthusiasts are still out here

True. And that was in the early 2000s. Alot of people credit the 5th Gen Mustangs with saving/reviving the muscle car.

you have to remember that the mustangs have true 6 speeds (5+1) now too, none of this double overdrive stuff (4+2). so on paper 2.73 may sound worse than it actually is.
