Bob Lutz kills me. I watched that video on CNN. He never answers questions. He's just like a walking talking brochure. How many times did he say the Volt gets 230mpg. They need to ditch these old guys and get some new young talented blood in there.....just like congress....wait, shut your mouth SSOOCH no political talk!!

I went and bought my car yesterday. Anyways, when I was there, my salesman told me that behind the dealer they have a quarter million dollars worth of clunkers that they have not see a penny on yet.
In addition, a local toyota dealership has about 12 million dollars in clunkers that they have not seen a penny on yet. So, while sales may be up, dealerships are not recouping those costs yet.

Congrats to all the fortunate workers who are getting something of a nice break in this economy. I just hope GM doesn't overdo it and build up excess inventory again, but for the moment this is good news.

Cool, but we knew this was going to happen a while ago, there were a few threads for it. Must have just made it official or something. Good news either way

Now if we could only bring back more jobs from China. I'm sick of seeing anything and everything being made in China when we have millions of unemployed people here literally begging for work. |

there's plenty of jobs, but some people dont want to do some of the jobs that are available. which is why we still have illegal immigration. but thats another topic for another day.

The Volt is Lutz brain-child, believe it or not. Without him...it wouldn't exist (much less any other recent cars). He's also wise enough to recognize that GM tends to not get a fair shake in the media...and they aren't looked upon any better in the public eye. I think he's allowed to make a few plugs about their most important PR vehicle...ever. And they are "ditching these old guys". GM scooped out most of the close-to-retirees throughout the last few rounds of downsizing. Lutz almost retired (again) when he began to suspect gov't control of the company. But when he saw that wasn't the case, he decided to stay...and frankly, he is just WAY to good at what he does to let go. EDIT: I totally forgot to say my piece on the article. Very good news, increased sales is good. Lets hope for continued increases. On a related note, the top ten Cash-for-clunkers list makes me absolutely sick to my stomach. |
