Speedy Prep Towel Life Expectancy

After searching about 50 reviews on 5 sites, I can see the advantages of using this versus traditional clay. Though the longevity of usability is varied, from 3x to 10x as much versus traditional clay in the reviews.

My car is a non-garaged daily driver and was clayed 2 months ago, and now needs it again. I clay the rims on avg every 2 weeks.

The price of the speedy towel (cheapest I've found) is 50 dollars.

I can buy 12 bars of standard fine clay for 42 dollars which will last me for a year to 15 months.

Has anyone had the speedy at least 9 months, and used it in this fashion or similar, that can review the life expectancy?

I realize all the benefits of speed of use, not having to knead it, ease of cleaning, not having to discard if dropped, ability to use in cooler temps, etc., just wanted some info. on longevity of usability.

Mine has lasted at least 40 cars over a couple years.

Well that kind of makes it a no brainer then.


40 uses would equate to 16 months of use based on my current needs if my math is correct. 5 times every 2 months 40/5 is 8 x 2 =16 months

i got one after i got the Camaro and have used it 3 times, about once every two months.
it still looks new. and it took about half the time to clay.

12 bars of clay for $42 sounds oddly cheap. But even if clay bars were free I'd still go with the speedy prep towel

This is the best part of using the towel, it saves time.

OP on a side note why would you clay your wheels that often?

I read a thread on another site where a guy with an un-garaged daily driver has done this for 1 year and has no pitting from brake dust on his rims. Unfortunately the prior owner of my car didn't protect them and I have a few pits. I haven't had anymore since doing this.

My clay towels ( SM Arnold ) are over two years old and going strong. I still dig out my clay for show cars and garage queens or ultra soft paints..

I used the towel Saturday, it rained Sunday, first look in direct sunlight was Mon, had slight micro-marring, removes easily with light polish, but all the time I saved will be lost plus more due to another strip, polish, wax now needed to remove marring from towel. It was 48 degrees which is 2 degrees below recommended use temp. so it's possible this caused it.
Also did a little research on other sites and found that it does show marring on darker bases, also some people only use it when going strip, polish, LSP. If I had it to do over I would have bought 12 bars of clay.
