I parted with my M3 for the Camaro SS. There are times I miss the M3, especially on a twisty road, but there is something very satisfying about the Camaro and I do not regret my decision. Plus an added benefit is lower maintenance cost, no more shelling out $2000 for an Inspection II.

If you can swing it, keep the M5 and buy the SS. The E60 M5 is a classic, especially now that BMW has downgraded to a v8. You will regret getting rid of it!! I love my M5 and my camaro... Any time I get into the M, I remember why I bought it...
High rev'n V10 and torque V8 very NICE combo

Not long after my 335i went off lease I picked up an SS. The 335i is a great car, but as mentioned before it lacks some of the character an SS ha in spades. In your case though I am not sure I would say the same since the M5 has much more attitude than a 335i.
You will miss some things about the BMW. But the SS is great gobs of fun and much cheaper to own. |

Ive had a BMW 325ci and then went to a Lexus IS250. Chevrolet cant even compete as far as handling and quality. I do admit I get more looks in the Camaro. As far as kids I have two ages 10 and 11 that I have to put in the back of the Maro and its gets tight plus there is only two seat belts back there if they want to bring a friend. Dont get me wrong I love the Maro but compared to those cars like I said "Chevy cant compete" I would still take half a camaro over 2 Mustangs.

I have had a few BMW's,including an M3. I was going to get another M3 as we already have 3 4th gens, yet I opted for the 2010 2SS/Rs and I am happy with it. Overall, I say that it is a comparable ride to the M3.

I currently have a 10 2SS/RS and an 09 997.2 4S (911 4S) I love both cars. You can't compare them. My porsche is an extreme and the Camaro is much easier to drive day to day. Just different approaches! I will say this there is no replacement for dispalcement!!!!

I'd rather drive an entry level Camaro with no extras than a IS250. Hands down, any day. And I kind of like Japanese cars. Certainly the year I drove (and it may have been improved) was slow, boring, gutless, and all the reviews of the time complained of the intrusive traction control aka electronic nanny. It was plain nasty. |
