$12K to build a forged block? No way! Come on now, don't make these comments unless you have experience with the LS1 motors. I built a forged block for $3K!!
obviously you don't know me. I have more experience then you give me credit for. seeing how I use to race my 98 z28 and have blown the engine (95k miles NA). once you start putting quality parts in the price sky rockets.

The setup (lq9+l92 heads) I was building for the 98 before the cost of a turbo and install/dyno/all the small nick-nacks was north of 8k. I had to start from scratch due to a rod going through the side wall. There are ways to cheap out on stuff, but after experiencing what I did the first time on my ls1 I wouldn't cheap out. hence why I don't trust the shops around here and was looking for the top quality parts. not the highest priced parts but quality parts.

how do you drive your car? what kind of tune was one it? was this 100k driven with the charger or was the majority of it NA? just because the engine has 100k on it doesn't mean that it's had a rough life. I am willing to bet I had driven my camaro harder then you drive yours. hence why my 98 ls1 blew it's engine at 95k. many factors go into engine longevity. so please be detailed. makes people assume less.

I love how GM just used a saws all to trim up the rear defuser. I guess the design team hasn't finished that part of the car yet.

Very nice pictures, I can't wait to see the production version.

I can't tell, did GM take out the mail slot on this facia version?

In which case, it will be above the price of a base Corvette. Maybe about the same as a Grand Sport.
You're wrong about pricing, and the market they're going after is the Mustang, NOT the Corvette, especially the Grand Sport.

Of course, I never meant to say that the Z28 is supposed to compete against the Corvette. But the Mustang comes in at a hair under $50k (as does the base Corvette), and given the trend of other Camaro models we should expect the Z28 to be a bit more than the equivalent Mustang. Meanwhile, the Grand Sport starts under $55k. Odds are, the Z28 will fall somewhere between the two but I expect it to be priced closer to a GS than the GT500 if its going to outperform the Ford.

PLEASE offer a Z28 Convertible!!!

If Ford can sell a GT500 convertible, Chevy can offer a Z28 competitor.

I hope you're wrong , though, I don't think it's going to be far off from there. I hope the dealer I would like to go through can find me a great price, lol.

I believe, without some mini-tubs, the max' the factory would go would be 305s. I know there are at least a couple people here on 315s, and I know of at least one on 335s, but the one of 335s only runs those on the track, not the street. Being those are 11s in the back, and seeing how much the shoulders roll inward, off the bead, I believe they're probably no larger than 305s. It'd be cool to get some 335s out back though!!! I hope you're right

This car is really coming along! Can't wait to see how it turns out.... really love the split dual-exit exhaust too. Wonder what they are going to do with the wheels....
