L99 Camaro still not as strong as G8 auto

Just from looking at how well the modded G8 GT's are doing in comparison to the l99 Camaro. 520 whp on a Maggie G8 GT auto, the closest l99 is 475whp.

Do the G8's run alot stronger?

It already sux that the L99 dyno's 40-50 whp less then a LS3 which = 75 hp difference at the crank, way more then the advertised 26 hp difference. Now there's a even more 30-40 whp difference between the L99 and G8 GT.

I not trying to bash the L99 but its a hard sell because of the huge difference in power.

Is there a possibility you are confusing the GXP G8 with the standard G8?

my fiance has a g8 gt, and I take her every time by 7-8 car lengths... I have a LS3 in mine though.

It's not 75 hp diff. You need to also take the 5-8% loss of the auto tranny.
Please know facts first.

So a auto SRT8 with -1 gear is faster than a SS L99 ?

Only 6-L99 cars have posted 1/4 mile ET's so far, considering this and the fact this is the hottest time of the year=slowest times, I'd say you'll see MUCH faster times this fall. So far Matt's 13.2 @ 106 is the quickest STOCK ET/MPH.

My '09 G8 GT ran 13.81 @ 104 mph bone stock, in hot weather. They have gone 13.50s with no mods already, in cooler weather. A buddy with just a tune on his went 13.20.

That being said, the Camaro should still be quicker. Just not enough track visits or data yet on the L99 cars.

I am converting my L99 to an LS3 when we put the Maggie on. The engine does not perform as well as my 2005 GTO automatic. The real solution is to offfer 3 options. The LS3 6 Speed manual, a LS3 Automatic with a gas guzzler tax (which I would glady pay) and the L99 for those who want to cruise.

We went to the track this weekend with 5 Camaro's running T/O 2 L99's and rest LS3's. My wife had the fastest time slip of the day...with a baby seat in tote. Car is L99 equipped and 100% stock.

My L99 only made 303hp on a chassis dyno, yet I still managed a best of 13.59 at the track (and a couple 13.8s). There is a lot of torque management that needs to be taken out, and a lot to be gained in the shifting. I think its going to be strong against the G8

If GM would maximize the tune from the factory, no one would be bitchen.

I beat a G8 GXP by 1.4 seconds last week at Bandimere in my completely stock L99.
