What about naming it I.R.O.C. like the 3rd gen. I'm just joking it wouldn't work but it is a good name.

With the Boss 302 being out, at this point I feel it would be best to give it a different name. As long as we are on this second coming of the muscle car era lets keep the names as they belong. The Big block cars of the 60's were SS cars. COPO or the ZL1, but unless they put a 427 in it, ZL1 is not the right choice. So my vote is to make it a SS package or a top of the line SS Supercharged. Then develop the light weight road race car that should have the Z/28 badge on it. Put the LS3 out of the Grand Sport in it. Forged internals and a dry sump. (6 speed cars only)

1) At this point I would put money on the fact that it won't be named the Z/28.

2) Anyone who voted that they wouldn't buy it if it wasn't named Z/28 wasn't buying the car either way.

Obviously they aren't going to call it Fatty McFatterson, but they need to be careful. If it doesn't sound like something a Camaro would be called, they need to step back.

This is new, I agree with at least half the people posting here xD

I think this car shouldnt be called Z/28, would that, or should it, affect mine or anyone's decision to buy it? No, not at all. The Z/28 was originally competitive as a track car, it was a detuned race car sold to the public and its main rivals were the Boss 302 and T/A Challenger. The Z/28 never competed with the GT500 so historically i dont think that should change now. With Ford unveiling its plans for a superpowered N/A detuned track Mustang named Boss 302 i think GM should do the same with the Z/28, a lighter, more powerful, more track oriented N/A car, just push the SS as utterly far as it will go performance-wise or legally for that matter without adding forced induction and thats the Z/28. Im not going to whine and say "its only a Z if its got a 302" cause thats not true at all, but i dont like the idea of a factory Z with forced induction. The Z should focus on huge weight savings, strip it of all unecessary luxury items, replace materials with lighter materials, give it an aluminum block, large performance cam, high flow heads, tuneable aspects like suspension and such, that's a Z/28.

As for THIS car, i saw someone talk about "no mention of 3rd gens" well here you go haha, i think it should be called the 1LE personally, after the race inspired 3rd gen Irocs. Plus it just fits with the "hood louvers" they mention as part of the design, an essential staple of any Iroc haha. Plus with them naming this something else it makes everyone happy, the people who really want this supercar along with all the comforts of a modern home get it and the people who want a stripped down, no BS Z/28 get that too, best of both worlds.

Although as an afterthought i think maybe GM should just contract SLP to build this car for them...i mean Ford went to Shelby to do it to theirs, cant SLP be our Shelby?
Food for thought =P

ZL1 = Most powerful Camaro more suited to fight Mustang GT500

z28 = Racer Camaro more suited to fight new Mustang BOSS 302

MY CHOICE = ZL1

ANYONE OBJECT AND WHY?
(SLP's ZL1 fights the GT500)

Because ZL1 belings to SLP. I will not buy from them.
Has to be GM made.

I WANT TO SEE IT ALREADY! (That's what she said) I honestly don't know what it should be called.. I think badging the top dawg camaro w/ "Z/28" would be kinda wierd.. and I don't really care for the "HP Edition" title either. I've always heard that you're paying mainly for the name if you go with HP. I could be wrong. Either way, it will be nice.

It would be GM made, it would just be SLP modified/tuned, just like the GT500, speaking of which i dont think ive ever heard a Mustang guy say "nope, built by Shelby, not Ford, i dont want it" haha.
Personally i trust SLP, i mean they have decently long ties to Camaro/Firebird already, they were the ones responsible for the 4th gen SS Camaro and WS6 Trans Am and as far as i know there was no drama between SLP and GM there, in fact people are still fanatics about the WS6 T/As, myself included haha

Not on Topic, but the current Shelby has nothing to do with Shelby. It is all SVT and built by Ford in Flat Rock Michigan. Only the Super Snake packages are Shelby work, its more of an aftermarket mod.
