Awesome Break in run today!

Well the wife and I wanted to go to Tucson, so we went the long way through the mountains on Hwy 83 from Sonoita to I-10. There were a lot of great S turns and strait aways for opening up the ZL-1.

For most of the route I was in 3rd and 4th, I put on the G meter, it was reading about .50g's all the way up to .80g's! I couldn't believe how well the car handled and took all the corners. I even had a few BMW's that tried to keep up but I kept pulling away until they gave up.

This car is getting stronger and stronger every day I drive it. I have no doubt that once I reach 1500 miles I'll notice a nice big hit in power.

If you want to check out the route I went here's the link.

Fun Break in route

Mountains are the best. There are no mountains in my area and whenever I travel to a mountainous area, I end up with a weak econobox rental. There are so many times I wish I had a high powered sports car for those type of roads.

Glad you are having a great time with your ZL1

Thinking of heading to Wilcox next Sunday. Might have to try your break-in route. Congrats on the ZL1. It's even more amazing when you spin it above 4k but man it hits readline right away!

^. ...LOL, sounds like a fun spirited ride ...wait till you get on the Interstate in 6th at speed, see your spots ahead to move through, and step on the throttle and the torque just grunts and pulls you anywhere you want to go with little effort....

Looks like the long route was definitely the best. Sounds like a blast! You doing a hard break in? Any thoughts on it so far?

I'm trying to stay within the limits of what's in the ownwers manual. I will admit that it's not always that easy. This car likes to run and it does it very well.

Staying within those limits was soooo hard! At 3k RPM is when it really comes on strong then 1000RPM later you gotta let out and shift! :(

Just take more road trips and rack up the miles! I'm about to hit 4000 miles on my way home from work today. Always a fun drive in a ZL1!
