Starter replacment
I brought the car to the dealer to do the starter since it’s heat sinking. I need to check the book again but they are saying they need to remove an exhaust manifold and drain the coolant???? For a starter. Who has done theirs on the 6.2??

Not yet but it looks like the manifold is in the way.

I just got home and checked the service manual. To access the wiring connections you need to pull the heat shield (which clearly sucks since heat is getting to the starter). The book calls for the manifold to be removed to get to these bolts but they are small 10mm bolts securing the shield to the starter. Can’t imagine the manifold being out is going to help that much. I see no need to drain coolant and it’s not listed in the steps. Pretty cut and dry
1) jack car - disconnect battery 2) remove heat shield 3) disconnect wire a 4) disconnect wire b 5) disconnect battery cable 6) remove two bolts holding starter. Installation is opposite of removal

I took video of the heat shield mounting hardware this morning. You can clearly see the three bolts holding it on. Is there a ton of room no but any mechanic should be able to remove those bolts with the manifold in place. Will get the starter on order, now that the dealer claims it’s not on the shelf anymore since last Thursday end up doing it in my driveway but oh well
