Someone should sticky this thread to eliminate the eventuality of having a whole page of bumps.

I run Amsoil in my SS and use a 10K drain interval. I currently have 73K on the motor and it runs fine.

People around here don't believe in reading stickies or searching for that matter. They'll ask the same thing in a different way about the same thing on the same first forum page lol.

Those that mod or race maybe should use those oils. I don't mod or race my L99 so I'm sticking with Mobil 1 (Dexos oils) as directed by my owners manual.

That's your opinion and that's fine, others like myself want to prolong the life of my engine and enjoy it. That's just my opinion

Ah, I see. So can anyone tell me what oils are the best for my engine?

What's difficult is that some people do not realize that some car owners don't want to settle for just good or mediocre oil, regardless of whether they mod or not. Using better, higher grade oil is not just for car owners that modify their cars. Better oil than the recommended (in the owners manual) Mobile 1 applies to all car owners, and whether they prefer to use higher grade oil for the life of their engine. With that said, your cars engine will live a long healthy life on Mobile 1, but if you prefer a better oil that would provide better engine life and longevity, than that option is there for you. It costs more to do so, but that's a decision you have to make for yourself. On a matter like this, I prefer not to settle for the bare minimum, and I can justify the cost of the higher grade oil. Better oil for your enigne is like better nutrition for your body (even though the body is much more complex). You can live off calorie dense yet NON-nutrient dense food, as well as refined, processed, and trans-fatty foods, but you won't live an optimal life, I'll tell you that....far from it.
