You will gain a slight increase in mileage with certain mods, but you MUST keep your foot out of it to realize the gains.

My 29K miles of driving so far have netted me an avg. of 23.9 MPG. But it helps that I have a 35 mile commute of which 25 is pure highway and I set the cruise at 70.

First off, if you do quite a bit of city driving, your MPGs are going to suck.

2nd...do your best to take off easy, and do as much coasting and coasting to stops as you can.

I have instant MPGs on my Torque app, and any time you simply let your foot off and coast around the MPGs jump into the 60s+....but as soon as you get back on the gas even to just maintain or slighly increase your highway speed the MPGs drop down into the low 20s or even the teens.

Key is a light...steady foot.

drive a pickup around for a month, then go back to your camaro, you`ll go to the pump alot less than with the truck...lol
I really notice it, seems like every time i turn around i`m putting fuel in that damn truck.

Why every time there is a "how to lower MPG question, people say:

"park it"
"don't drive"
"take a tricycle"
"Capture Pegasus and give him skittles"
"jump like the hulk to commute to work"
"convert your car to run on sunlight and screams"

I was avg 19 mpg with mostly highway and I started regretting getting the V6. I've learn to cruise less just on 65 that makes a difference (24 mpg avg now). Switching to 89 or above will remove Knock Retard but it won't help MPG (If anyone disagrees, jump in).

For city driving, just change your driving habits a little. You don't have to baby it as it will be annoying. After a light, just speed up slightly less and don't go too far over the speed limit. Cruise and enjoy the city and the drive. I'm learned the LLT MPG varies a great deal compared to my previous car and driving habits make a big difference.

SO TRUE. One hard acceleration to full RPM's can wipe out much of my gains while trying to set a high mark for MPG's on the way to work. Which is why I set the cruise at 70 MPH and relax for the next 25 miles. Then again at 4:30 am there is not to much traffic to affect my drive.

Personally, if you havnt already purchased a CAI, I would suggest one from CAI or Roto-fab and in conjuntion with the ADM scoop and Roto-fab windshield washer fluid relocator. After these mods, you should reach 32-33mpg on the highway and 26-28mpg in the city. I havnt gotten the ADM scoop yet but its going to be ordered soon and I've seen 7.5l/100km on my screen many times highway driving from Calgary to Edmonton. I can garantee with the ADM scoop, I will hit 7l/100km or break it.

This was in manual mode with cruise control set in 6th gear at 120km/h.
