Getting a CEL after DT shorty install

I'm just curious what you all think may be the cause. Got new oem gaskets on, everything runs great, no odd sounds. EZ flash also scans codes right? I was going to check on this after work, do a datalog, etc.

Will keep updated as results present themselves.

Did you disconnect the harness that goes into the throttle body? That will cause a CEL on some cars which can be cleared with EZFlash or just disconnect the battery for a minute.

Check the welds, make sure the O2 sensors are firmly plugged in. You'd be the first to get a CEL from the DTs, so I suspect it won't return after clearing the codes. I ran them for the better part of a year and had no issues. I think you'll be ok, just clear the codes and see if they come back.

Dreams is right...if it is an CEL from an 02 sensor...you'd be the first I've heard of getting that. Something is going on here.

Nothing seems out of ordinary. Ez-flash DOES read codes does it not?

Called the shop that installed them. They are happy to double check all their work. After that if theres still an issue ill see what the code is all about.

Yes EZ-Flash will tell you the code. Check it at DTSearch.com. Could just be they didn't disconnect the battery, or an O2 sensor could have gotten damaged while they were welding.

Also its not unusual to need to re-torque the header bolts after initial use.

Good luck! Keep us posted ...

That's the 2nd sensor, passenger side- should have been far enuff away from the weld. Maybe just got a shock! Re-set it if you haven't already.

I'm hoping it won't come back (bet you are too!).

Check to make sure they plugged it in and the wiring wasn't damaged. Wouldn't be the first time a code was thrown for a bad connection.
Good luck and I'm doubting it's a DT issue.

We shall see. I'm not stressing it much as it doesn't seem to be affecting anything (according to ear and butt dyno). Work is keeping me pretty well tied up lately. Will probly take it in to be checked on the 6th unless someone more knowledgeable suggests otherwise, as I'm personally clueless as to the ramifications of rolling with a bunked O2 sensor.

Update: called the dealership and they said I should still be under warranty for this. Hopefully they don't change their mind when they see the DTs.

Rear O2 sensors are not used to adjust anything, they're there to ensure the cats are working properly in the system, so your car should still be running fine. If the welds are fine and the O2's aren't damaged and still plugged in, you may have just a part that failed?
