My insurance didn't hardly change $5 from my '11 5.0 to my 2012 2SS. And with my driving record, I doubt very seriously I'm gonna get any sort of rate decrease when I turn 25 in September.

Look at how many of these totaled Camaros are V6's. More losses equal higher rates.

My 95 Firebird Convertible 3.4 V6 cost me $280 every 6 with 250 deductibles. My 2012 1SS Vert cost me $260 every 6 with the 250 deductibles. My agent was baffled as well. Limited use to 7500 miles a year.

I meant the part about 7500 miles a year. That's why I put it in bold...

Great money managing skills are required.
I've actually been thinking of going into IT (3 years til college). The money is good to know, as I have an expensive wishlist (see sig)

Has anyone ever called for a quote and had them say - well it'll be 1400 for a few months...but you're almost 25 so it'll be 1000 after that..

As everyone has hinted it has to do with how long you've been driving and your driving history. Nobody that's been driving for 1 year and then turns 25 will see a drop.

On topic though - I saw my insurance drop from 1350$ on my 2010 Mazda3 to 1200 on the Camaro!
I never said it didn't depend on driving history as well, and you can refuse all you want - I saved $400 annually when I hit 25. I was driving my 2002 WS6 at the time and went from an annual premium of just over $1200 to just over $800. It was probably compounded by my driving record. But the fact remains - it all happened after my 25th bday

Did you change addresses by chance? When I moved 2 hours south mine dropped by about $200 a year. Probabaly because of all the car thefts around Gary

My guess is that there are a lot of V8 owners who have them as second cars and don't put as many miles on them and baby them far more than the average LS/LT owner who uses there car as a daily driver and is statistically more inclined to get in an accident.

Interesting! I had to think on this one for a second, I did move but it was in the same city technically. I moved later to another county, but I never thought of how it might have impacted my rates.

Good point though. Region likely does have an impact.

I never said you argued against history - I was saying that had more to do it with than age. We're probably arguing over a coincidence - you being 25 was probably as you said just a time when a few things compounded on your record / history and you saw a drop. It could also have happened when you were 24 or 26.

This. Did you move? Or any other changes?
