Fender vent: Yes or No?
Ok, so I have been thinking about getting fender vents for a while now and was extremely close to finally buying them tonight but then decided to hold off and think about it some more. I honestly cannot decide whether i should get them or not. They are the ones in this link:
http://www.phastekperformance.com/20...nts-691807.htm I for sure like them, but I just can't decide what I like better, with or without the vent. What do y'all think? Also people who already have them, how do you like them? Here are some things I am nervous/weary about: 1) It is not reversible...Once I install it, it's there for good unless I replace the entire fender 2) Rusting--I am worried that it could cause some rust problem down the road, but i am not sure 3) the install! I am pretty good with tools and I am a pretty handy person with small jobs, but cutting my fender is out of my comfort zone for sure. 4) I really like the "Camaro" emblem, which I will lose with the vents Any thoughts or comments? Opinions are appreciated! I attempted to photoshop fender vents on to my car but I couldn't find any pictures of IBM vents so I did my best photoshop job I could do with what I could find. |

Those vents just scream afterthought. If it was somehow one piece with the fender, they wouldn't be so bad. Plus functional fender vents + for show gills on the quarter is just weird. I'd rather try to make those gills functional instead.

there are alternatives to those....... not saying those are bad... just sayin' there are other choices out there to consider:
front fenders from Garys Customz back quarters done at local shop.

Those look great GB! Are there screens or baffles? I'm seeing a lot of rain spray/road debris potential but I like it

I have a set of dual vented fenders in IBM from Garys Customz on order right now. They should be ready any day now. I will share a pic of them as soon as I have one.

I got the dual vented fenders from Gary, I'd say do that instead of the 3D Carbon ones. To me, you can definitely tell the 3D Carbon ones are aftermarket and not part of the actual fender. Plus if you like the Camaro emblem you can still put that on the middle bar between the vents on Gary's fenders. And if you decide you don't like the vents you can put your stock ones back on. Here's a pic of my fenders from Gary.

For a DD I could never do those up front. It seems like the tires would sling everything down the side of your car.

Check out ebay for those vents...they're everywhere cheap. Recently picked a set up for a local for $76 shipped. New in box. I've seen em for $100-140 lately. While I'm ok with the vents, I agree here. Nothing would look better than to paint them in my opinion. Painted GFX all day long... Ivan |

Negative. Inner fender remains in place...
