I witnessed my first injury to a player during a youth basketball game that I officiated today at Kingsborough Middle School. Player was trying to run down and block a shot and ran into the wall. He sustained an undisclosed neck injury. EMS showed up onsite and took the young man to the hospital. I hope he is okay...

Agreed! If you don't have the demeanor to handle the complaints and yelling from players, coaches, and fans, then you probably wouldn't be able to make it as a sports official. It also helps if you have a passion for the sport. I am a die-hard basketball fan!
