I asked this question and was told gears require a tune to correct speed etc.

Richmond 4:10 gear swap

I just install Richmond 4:10 gears. During the dyno the speedo was 4 MPH off. I had it adjusted to be only 1 MPH off. Had to adjust speedo by tire size on the computer.

Not able to follow what you are saying. Why did you adjust to only be 1 mph off instead of exactlly on? How do you like those gears? Did you notice any wine and do you feel like they make the car alot stronger? Thanks,

GPS is significantly less accurate then a speedo. Using the minimum four satellites, its like up to 10-50 meters off. Thats why most use as many as possible, which is sometimes up to 8, and algorithms based on common sense(heading east bound, most likely on east bound road. most likely on road, approximate distances, etc etc)

I'd say its close enough from the factory.

In the tuning you can adjust for tire size, gear ratio... your not really changing the speedo. Your changing the calculation the computer uses to determine speed, so the end result still may be a hair out of whack. If the speedo was a hair off to start with, changing the gear calculation, it is still going to be a hair off. You'd have to have the speedo calibrated to fix that, which is a different procedure and you need special equipment to do not just a tuning device.

yeah whatever i guess when i had my built in garmin and my portable garmin in my truck on at the same time they were both reading the same they were off right ? NO they are very accurate but nice try. my truck speedometer is 1 mph off always every time i check. and my ss is off by 1 mph also always.

Can dealer adjust the speedo for me or do I have to get an after market tune on the V6? I want gears but dont want to pay for a tune also.
