The 3.5 Ecoboost TT is very cool... I was crushed when Ford announced that the Ecoboost would NOT be in the 2011 Mustang...

I don't understand how anyone expected the 3.5 ecoboost motor to be the V6 replacement for a $20k car. That doesn't make any sense. Not sure what the point was but the 3.7L motor should make the V6 mustang competitive with the V6 camaro. Definitely a step in the right direction for Ford.

Could have brought it back as an optional power plant... like the SVO...

Right now the 4.0L is 210 HP / 255 TQ... the 3.7 is about 270 HP / 270 TQ.. Right now I'm beating 4.0L Mustangs, some with bolt ons and tunes, by any where from .4 to .6 in the 1/4 mile... trapping quite a bit higher too... I think if a tuner ever comes outs for the LLT and we can "adjust" the torque management system that gap will widen!

So, yes, the 3.7 will make it more competitive... probably make it a drivers race... but with the 3.5 Ecoboost Ford could have really leap frogged past the V6 Camaro...

They throw the same ecoboost you see in the SHO video up above into a camaro...well then you can forget comparing it to the Camaro V6. That thing makes somewhere around 350hp/350torque but its also on a limiter. It can go quite a bit higher from what i was reading....well into the 400s on torque.

Just wait about a couple of years and you can probably pick up a used one for about 1/2 of MSRP. 3-year residual value for a 2008 Taurus (500) is only 39%, according to Ford Credit Leasing.

i think with the lighter mustang, that 3.7 is going to feel very very nice.
My 2LT/RS already feels the same in quickness as my brothers 05 4.0 but that could just be my car having some problem.
If my car is normal, then i think the 2011 Mustang will feel alot quicker.
But im hoping to god my car is just a problem child and needs a fix
If anyone is in the Toronto area and would like to help me in comparing our v6 camaros, please PM me

Yes, but the pricing makes no sense. A TT v6 motor is at least as expensive as a V8, so there is no place for it in the mustang lineup. The extra development costs of another significantly different drivetrain don't really make sense to me in this case. That is why I don't think it will ever happen.

Is your brother 4.0 100% stock? The 2005 V6 Mustangs were really handicapped off the line by the torque management system... My 2005 V6 couldn't even spin the tires even if i power braked it! It was ridiculous!! Once I got a tune for the car without the torque management, i could spin the tires like crazy!!! LOL! I believe in 2006 Ford adjusted the TM system so it wasn't so stingy!

Here is a dyno showing a 100% stock 2005 V6 automatic before and after a tune. Look at the HUGE improvement in the low end torque!!!

Now take a look at the LLT vs the 4.0L, stock for stock...

The low end torque is the same! Now imagine if we can see the same kind of low end gains by removing the torque management stuff!!! Car would really pull off the line!

that's my thinking anyways...

3.5 is already in the lincoln... going in the SHO... don't think it would be huge stretch to get it into the Mustang... More pricey than the 3.7, sure... but would have been a killer option!
