So why is there no cam phasing for the LS3 on the Mtx? Chrysler offer VCT phasing (but no AFM) on the 5.7L Mtx Challenger w/o guzzler. VCT would be a nice addition to the LS3 IMO.

YEah, the G8 GXP comes in auto, and does, i repeat DOES, get the gas guzzler tax.
I too would like a LS3 auto, tax or not. That damn active management bs stands in the way of many mods, or makes them more expensive. |

the GXP comes in both auto and manual. And they both have a 415 hp LS3.

highway mpg has almost nothing to do with weight, its all about areodynamics and the camaro is lacking that with the big recessed grill

i love how everyone is acting like there is this huge difference between the l99 and the ls3. Like the l99 is somehow completely inferior to it. Christ this car has been nitpicked to death about everything. Few people will be able to feel the 26 hp difference despite what they might say. The auto is going to be every bit as fast as the manual at the drag strip for the 10% of these cars will ever be there. Do you really think an extra 26 hp is going to be needed to smoke most cars at a stoplight?

First of all the Camaro never was designed to usurp the Corvette in performance and market position. Second like people say it's all about CAFE and the competition.
Didn't say anything about the camaro "usurping" the corvette, And yes understand about cafe and all the bs-hoops GM has to jump threw. I was compairing the LS3/Auto in the corvette, that it would work in a camaro. I think the L99 is a fine motor, I wanted the LS3 because I like to upgrade/tune to get all the HP. If it came down to a GGtax for a LS3/Auto that be fine.. |

I'm sure the L99 can be easily tuned, pretty sure you can just globally turn off the AFM in software.

The G8 boys are tuning the shit outta their L76's, not all of whom disable the AFM.

exactly, the only down side i see with the l99 is not being able the rev as high but thats it. but the plus is you get vvt and can tune it to make the afm a lil more agressive to get better mpg at the same time geeting more power through upgrades and a tune |

definitely. And ya never know. We may find a way to get the L99 to rev higher too. Give the aftermarket some time to work on that valvetrain, we could see more cam lift, more duration, more rpm's, who knows. Turbos, supers, all kinds of good stuff will be made for the L99, plus we can still have good mpg's too. So lets stop writing off the L99 as inferior and wait and see what we can do with it.
